I could not complete installing OpenOffice 4.1.3 because this file was opened and even after I killed it by the task manager it kept opening when I told OpenOffice Installation to retry. I found it in "c:\users\my user name\QtWebEngineProcess.exe and after I deleted it I successfully completed the OpenOffice Installation.

Navigating to Task Manager and right-clicking the process QtWebEngineProcess.exe shows a menu with an option to open file loction. This allows one to see where this process sits /what it's a part of. In my case, it's part of Dropbox (so I will leave it alone for stability's sake as I use files in my Dropbox daily). The right-click reveals two further options: end process and end process tree. These will obviously end the process for your current session, but not permanently. I therefore rated it important. Finding the file location will very quickly let you ascertain whether the software it's a part of is important to you or not.

Is apparently also run by the Mendeley application for Windows. Closing the process does not close the Mendeley application. May be unnecessary...

I have two, apparently benign, versions on my machine. One is used by Adaware 22.4kB 13/02/19 and one used by Dropbox 29.3kB 30/07/19. Both appear essential to the functioning of the software they relate to.

It is in my microsoftedge folder. It races and makes a lot of noise, so I removed it after reading the comments by others. I don't use Edge, but the noise is annoying. Not sure why it even runs since I don't use edge.

its to support the audio if you end the task you cant watch youtube or hear anything

It caused issues when the new Steam Client went to download and stayed loaded. Use task manager to end all instances of it to clear error 11580. Now launch a steam game or steam itself and the new client download will run and install the new client. All issues should be resolved...

Since QtWebEngineProcess.dll was updated on 6 December 2019, my machine keeps on crashing with random errors. One particular error is linked to QtWebEngineProcess.exe which throws a Hard Error. It is linked to Dropbox. It affects my display engine where I get a black screen and have to cold boot my Windows 10.
  Raymond de Kock
It uses up a lot of my CPU space.
  Matthew
It is also used for some games on Steam including Civilization 5. Closing the process closes the game immediately.

I've had times where my computer will start lagging like crazy. When I open the task manager, QtWebEngineProcess is eating up 95% of my CPU power for some reason. Most of the time, it's fine, but those spikes give me serious spyware/mining vibes.

It is used by Plex for Windows, too.
  Cameron McGehee
It is used by DropBox, most likely to provide access to files in DropBox in a web browser
  J. O. Cox   (further information)
For me it was involved in running Sid Meier's Civ 5. I don't know what it does exactly, but it failed to close after the game did and was eating my CPU pretty badly. It also opened a duplicate of itself after i closed and relaunched the game. Manually closing them fixed the issue, and CPU usage returned to normal. Looks pretty safe, though multiple instances will SHRED your CPU usage, and has some problems closing properly i guess.

seems to really be a massive resource hog(~12% constant CPU usage while app is minimized(origin)) I force closed it and still was able to use origin afterwards, so at least there is a solution! Big bonus for gaming as that 12% CPU can be needed at times plus it saves on electricity and lowers stress/heat of CPU.

The file has recently been put into use by Scopely for Star Trek Fleet Command and is located C:\Users\XXXX\AppData\Local\Star Trek Fleet Command I do not know what it's being used to do. But it causes the main application to Not unload when you exit the game in Windows 11. You have to use Task Manager to quit.
  MrJoatMon
I found it to be an integral part of AMD Radeon software, it's probably used for the built-in browser.
  Rokas
Part of Genshin Impact launcher
  Olihinator
Found in an EA arts folder I installed. Will disable for now check results, shows 2 running
  J Brown
It is a program for displaying web pages inside of another program. It is not a virus. Games or other programs need to display websites so it often comes bundled.
  Steven
I get up to four copies of QTWeb running simultaneously. Takes up up to 50% of the cpu. Cooling fan runs non-stop. In fact, that's how I notice it's presence. I stop the process and wait for it to show up again. Worse than useless. Trying to figure out how to stop it from showing up.
  Peter Hiebert
AppData\Local\VortxEngine\app-2.4.9\Signal-x64 Part of SignalRGB - but it uses a LOT of CPU resource
